Exploring Adoption with Support
If parenting doesn’t feel possible right now, you may be wondering whether adoption could be a realistic path. Many women are surprised to learn how much adoption has changed in recent years. Today, you have a voice in nearly every part of the process, and you’re never expected to walk through it alone.
At New Life Care Center, our advocates provide free, confidential support, allowing you to explore adoption without feeling pressured. Our role is to simply help you understand your choices, not make them for you.
Adoption Looks Different Today
Modern adoption gives you the ability to shape what your child’s future and your ongoing involvement will look like. You can choose the adoptive family, the level of communication you prefer, and the plan that feels right for you.
Your adoption options include:
Open Adoption
You and the adoptive couple you’ve selected share information and maintain contact through visits, messages, or calls. Many women appreciate the ongoing connection and updates.
Semi-Open Adoption
Communication occurs through an adoption agency or an attorney. This option maintains privacy while allowing you to receive updates and maintain limited contact.
Closed Adoption
All identities remain confidential, and no contact information is exchanged. Some women prefer the privacy this plan provides.
You’re in the Driver’s Seat
Adoption can be meaningful but emotional. You may feel a range of emotions, including relief, grief, hope, or a combination of these. All of those are valid. Our advocates are here to help you sort through what matters most to you, at your pace.
If you decide to pursue adoption, it’s essential to know:
- You will not pay for adoption services.
- You have the option to choose the adoptive parents who raise your child.
- Medical costs related to your pregnancy are typically covered if you do not have other insurance.
- You may qualify for additional material or emotional support.
You Don’t Have to Decide Today
You deserve space to think, breathe, and gather information. Adoption is a significant decision, and support can make all the difference.
